Four Years Later, Star Wars Fans Remember Pedro Pascal’s Most Important Mandalorian Scene

This compilation of Star Wars audiences responding to one pivotal Din Djarin scene in The Mandalorian proves what a massive moment it really was. The Mandalorian is one of Star Wars’ best TV shows, in part because of how brilliant and touching the dynamic between Din Djarin and Grogu is. In fact, Din Djarin and Grogu are high on the list of best Star Wars duos, which was only made all the better with Din Djarin’s official adoption of Grogu. Before that, though, one moment in The Mandalorian revealed just how far Din would go to protect the Child.

In season 2, episode 7, of The Mandalorian, Din Djarin removed his helmet in front of others, breaking his Mandalorian code. However, he did it to save Grogu, which audiences clearly found moving, based on this video compilation of fan responses posted on TikTok by tonyc_official.

Viewers in this compilation video are entirely right—Din Djarin made a painfully difficult decision out of love for Grogu, and that is what made this moment in The Mandalorian so profound.

What Din Djarin Removing His Helmet Meant In The Mandalorian

Din Djarin Was Officially Putting Grogu First

From the moment he met Grogu, whom he then simply called the Child, Din Djarin had to choose between his duty as a Mandalorian and/or a bounty hunter and how he felt about Grogu. It didn’t take long for Din Djarin to decide that his priority was Grogu, although choosing him over his mission as a bounty hunter was very different from breaking a sacred Mandalorian rule. This moment in The Mandalorian season 2, episode 7, solidified once and for all that there was nothing more important to Din Djarin than Grogu.

Din then proved the extent of his love for Grogu that much more in the next episode, The Mandalorian season 2 finale, when he let Grogu go with Luke Skywalker because he believed that was best for him. Both moments were truly remarkable and some of the most emotional scenes throughout the Star Wars timeline. Star Wars doesn’t always represent family dynamics in this way, and it was lovely—and continues to be lovely—to see Din Djarin have such a fatherly love for Grogu.

Din Djarin is still adhering to his helmet rule despite his character arc in The Mandalorian season 2, and the series creator explains why that is.

Our Take On Din Djarin Removing His Helmet

This Was An Incredibly Touching Moment—And Gave Pedro Pascal More Time To Shine

In addition to this moment in which Din Djarin removes his helmet being a wonderful example of Din’s love for Grogu, this scene also gave Pedro Pascal more screen time as himself. This wasn’t the first time Din Djarin had removed his helmet, although it was the first time he had fully taken it off in front of others. There have still only been a few times Din Djarin broke the rules and removed his helmet, though, which makes it rare to see Pedro Pascal’s actual face.

While Pedro Pascal is of course a brilliant actor whether Din Djarin has his helmet on or not, it’s nevertheless a nice surprise any time Star Wars audiences get to see Pascal’s face. That this occurrence took place specifically as a way for Din Djarin to protect Grogu made it even better. As these fan reactions make clear, Din Djarin deciding to remove his helmet for Grogu’s sake in The Mandalorian season 2, episode 7, was profound and touching.
